Question 4

The Correct answer is B. Word choice and writing style

Explanation:

Theme in Literature means an idea or the key message about life and human behavior that a writer expresses in a literary work. It could also mean a statement that a work makes about its subject. A writer develops the theme based on his perspective about life and this is usually present in a piece of writing. The theme of a story must have a strong meaning as it is the key idea.

Narrative Arc traces the grouping of the occasions in a story which begins with the opening or presentation, the body and the end snapshots of a story. It is a spoken or composed record of associated occasions. To understand what a narrative arc is, look at the background of a story, it follows sequentially. It contains some structures in Literature namely; Exposition, Rising action, Climax, falling action, Resolution.

A story or poem written in first person point-of-view is a story written and narrated by the author. The story uses personal narratives and pronouns like I, me, my, etc.Usually, a story is written in the first-person point of view, when a person rights about his life (autobiography). It tends to connect to the readers and listeners because the narrator uses clear words capable of being easily understood. Examples are Sherlock Holmes, the Sun Also Rises, Jonathan Swift's Gulliver's Travels, Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird Harper Lee, etc.

When you read what an author writes, his voice is understood through his word choice and writing style. Authors incorporate different literary styles of writing to convey an idea. Authors have a peculiar way of writing, as two authors cannot write the same way. The tone of an author may differ from the other and this is what makes their work unique. It is important to note that "voice" does not necessarily mean the physical voice that can be heard. It means the literary idea passed.

Which one of the following statements best describes the theme of "Young Goodman Brown"?
4vir4ik [10]

I think the theme of "Young Goodman Brown" is (D) The forest is a place where dark deeds take place.

This is because the author likens the forest to the unseen and naturally Goodman Brown expresses his distrust and fear as he cautiously enters it. The forest reflects the views of the 17th century Puritans who initially feared the forest but then also wanted to dominate it once they had overcome their fears. Goodman Brown also sees the Devil himself in the forest.

1. In a response of no fewer than two paragraphs, discuss the theme of Sara Teasdale's "Barter" and the poetic devices she uses
vitfil [10]
Barter tries to convince the reader that there is beauty in life. All of the similes and metaphors used in the poem illustrate this. "Music like a curve of gold," "Blue waves whitened on a cliff," "Holding wonder like a cup," "one white singing hour of peace" all serve as examples for the beauty that can be found in simple moments and sensations.
The poem is written in rhymed iambic tetrameter. This helps the poem sound more musical.
Hope this helps.
