Explanation:

Phonetics the study of speech sounds, that is, phonetics seeks to understand in the concrete moment of speech what are its real sounds, which understand the physiological and acoustic aspects, in order to distinguish the varieties and the production of speech sounds.

Phonology, on the other hand, is the branch of language that studies phonemes, which are the vowels, semivowels and consonants that form the smallest sound unit of a word.

Phonology helps in understanding the dialects of the same language by helping to identify the language spoken by the same nation or region for example, which uses different phonemes to express ideas and emotions through words, creating linguistic and sound patterns that characterize certain dialects. We can mention as an example American and British English, which despite being the same language, has particularities with regard to phonetics and phonology.
