A rational number can be written as a ratio (fraction) and an irrational number cannot.
For example, 5 is a rational number because it can be written as 5/1, but π cannot be written as a fraction, because it is a never ending, never repeating decimal. (3.141592653589793...)

MAX POINTS!!! Write and solve a system of equations. Be sure to label the variables. The difference of two numbers is two. Two t
Cerrena [4.2K]

Answer:

 • 5 and 3

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the numbers be x and y.

The equations are:

 • x - y = 2
 • 2x + y = 13

Add up the equations to eliminate y and solve for x:

 • x - y + 2x + y = 2 + 13
 • 3x = 15
 • x = 15/3
 • x = 5

Now find the value of y:

 • y = x - 2
 • y = 5 - 2
 • y = 3
