Answer:

The central theme of the novel is the conflict between civilization and savagery, which also expresses the psychological confrontation between good and evil, as the social battle of law against anarchy. The good is represented in the instinct of civilization while the instinct of savagery represents evil.

Explanation:

The boys have to choose whether they follow rules and moral commands to guarantee a peaceful coexistence or they succumb to an instinctive search for power and gratification through violence. This is not only a personal dilemma but also shows how all the characters are influenced by an instinct of civilization as well as one of savagery to different degrees.

While Ralph represents civilization, Jack represents savagery.

Piggy and Roger are in opposite extremes as well, since the first doesn´t show any tendency to savagery, while the latter seems incapable of following the rules of civilization. Given that most boys succumb to savagery by the end, we can infer that Golding believes that the instinct of savagery is a primal element of the human mind while the instinct of civilization is forces on the individual by society.

Determine whether the sentence below is simple or compound. the store is usually open by now, but the owners may be on vacation,
ser-zykov [4K]

Answer: Compound

THE 4 SENTENCE STRUCTURES

The simple sentence is one of the four basic sentence structures. The other structures are the compound sentence, the complex sentence, and the compound-complex sentence.

Simple sentence: I purchased a tour guide and a travel journal at the bookstore.

a simple sentence is a sentence with only one independent clause.

Compound sentence: I purchased a tour guide and a travel journal, but the bookstore was out of maps.

a compound sentence can be thought of as two (or more) simple sentences joined by a conjunction and/or an appropriate mark of punctuation.

Complex sentence: Because I was planning to visit Tokyo, I purchased a tour guide and a level journal.

a complex sentence is a sentence that contains an independent clause (or main clause) and at least one dependent clause. Put another way, a complex sentence is made up of a main clause with one or more dependent clauses joined to it with an appropriate conjunction or pronoun.

Compound-complex sentence: While Mary waited, I purchased a tour guide and a travel journal at the bookstore, and then the two of us went to dinner.

a compound-complex sentence is a sentence with two or more independent clauses and at least one dependent clause. Also known as a complex-compound sentence.

Identify the following sentence as simple, compound, complex, or compound-complex.
The store is usually open by now, but the owners may be on vacation, or maybe they're just late today.
