Punctuation marks are important for recognizing the end of a statement and or drawing some out with an ellipsis. If you do not put them at the end of your writing/sentence, unless using a question mark(?) or exclamation point(!), then the reader/grader will not be able to know where your sentence ends and the new one begins, therefor rendering it a run on sentence.

Children already have to attend school for seven long hours each day, only having a two day break and an occasional holiday in between. In addition to the long school days, most students take home overwhelming amounts of homework that can take up many hours in itself. Summer vacation is something children can look forward to as a great opportunity to relax and not worry about classwork or homework. In conclusion, school should not continue through the summer months as students value this break.
