La profesora- is a female because it says LA. So you change to - ELLA. Then you have "me da el examen"

ME - means that is to you

DA- give

So "me da" is that she gives you

What does she give you? El examen

Which is masculine so you change to "LO"

ELLA ME LO DA

You have to put the thing (el examen in this case) between the person who she's giving it to (in this case it's you- ME) and the verb (give- dar/da)
