Answer: The government cannot legislate equality.

The "Atlanta Compromise Speech" was the name given by W. E. B. DuBois to a speech given by Booker T. Washington in 1895. The speech addressed the topic of race relations and laid the foundation for the Atlanta Compromise, an agreement between African American leaders and Southern white leaders. The compromise was that black people would submit to white rule in exchange for basic education and due process of law.

In this line, Booker T. Washington is arguing that the government artificially legislating equality cannot result in equality in practice. Effective equality can only come through constant struggle.

Damm [24]

Answer:

Spartans.

Explanation:

Unlike the Athenians who loved the arts and prided themselves on their artists, Spartans had little use for it. Instead, they turned towards their military craft, preparing soldiers for wars that they had a lot of. Since they were located on the plain with a lot of fertile soil, they didn't have much use for trade either. That's why all of their efforts went into creating amazing soldiers who were a force to be reckoned with.

velikii [3]

Answer:

He opposed it and believe it will treaten US foreign policy of isolationism.

Explanation:

The Senate majority leader, Henry Cabot Lodge, a Republican from Massachusetts, opposed the treaty, specifically the section regarding the League of Nations.

He believed that the League threatened the U.S. foreign policy of isolationism; wanted the constitutional right of Congress to declare war included in the treaty.

Republicans including Cabot lodge opposed joining under Wilson's terms of no reservations, allowing the League to force the U.S. to enter a war without approval of Congress.

In the end the Senate voted down the Treaty of Versailles in 1919 and never joined the new League of Nations.
