Social participation is basically just participating in a social environment such as a party. Participating socially means engaging in conversation with others and being able to talk with other people instead of being quiet and keeping to yourself. Social participation is good for socialization because if you are in a social environment and not speaking then you aren’t socializing. You must actively try to be engaged in conversations or small talk with people.
