Why, it was a new movement in the arts that flourished in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries (roughly 1750-1850). Romanticism grew primarily out of a reaction to the reason and strict forms and rules of Neoclassicism.
The seven most common elements include line, shape, texture, form, space, colour and value, with the additions of mark making, and materiality.
