When the sperm enters the Fallopian tube and become fertilized, it keeps on travelling thought the Fallopian tube. It usually happens in 12 to 24 hours after ovulation. After being fertilized the egg travels down the Fallopian tube to the uterus.  
But if fertilization does not happen, then, the egg will die off.
