The 1920s were a unique time in the United States in the sense that it was a time of great economic prosperity and also great social woe. What led to this tension was a mix of rising immigration levels and and irresponsible attitude towards money and spending.

The three major groups of people that shaped the cultures of Latin America are the people of African descent, the people of Indigenous descent (or self-identified as indigenous) and people of European descent. These three cultures have all blended into what we can now call Latin American society.
It was more to prove an example. Many people could not believe that a former slave could appear so educated.
Texans, just like other human populations, have modified their environment in order to better suit their needs.
- Logging has played a big part on the modification of the environment. Timber has been used for energy and construction, and cleared areas have been used for farming or housing.
- Water bodies have been modified by the use of dams. Water is also channeled in order to prevent flooding and use it for electricity.
- Cattle and agricultural production have changed the land and the fauna found in the state.
- The drilling of oil has greatly modified the natural landscape of the region.
