Answer:

Short story writing on the moral "as you sow, so you reap".

Explanation:

Once there was an old woman who had nothing to eat. But though poor, she would never refuse to help anyone who's in need. So, whenever she could get help from others, she would help those in need in return.

One day, while begging for food along the road, she came across a rich lady who had been observing her for some time. She was impressed by the older woman's generous heart, and so, she decided to take her to her charity home. But to her surprise, the old woman refused, saying that if she leaves, then there will be no one to help the poor, roadside children and they'll be left orphaned, even though they were not her real children. This greatly touched the rich lady and decided to take all the children along with the old woman. Not only did the old woman got home for everyone, but she was also made the matron of the charity home, and became known as the mother of that home.

The old woman's big heart led to her rise from poverty to becoming a respected 'mother' for everyone. She also inspired others to be a helping hand for others in need. This perfectly expresses the saying<em> "as you sow, so shall you reap"</em>. If you show kindness and love to others, the same thing will happen to you in return.

What can the reader infer about Della‘s reaction to opening her gift
Nezavi [6.7K]

What the reader can infer is that; Della was so excited to have the combs she had wanted, that she momentarily forgets she has cut her hair. She cries as she realizes she will not be able to use them

<h3>How to get Inference from a passage?</h3>

This question was taken from the book titled "The gift of the maggi". Now, in this story, Della was a young housewife who lived in a small apartment in New York with her husband, Jim.

Now, Della had been carefully saving money to enable her to buy a Christmas gift for Jim, but she was taken aback when she discovered that she had only collected one dollar and eighty-seven cents.

Thus, we can conclude that Della's reaction to opening her gift was that Della was so excited to have the combs she had wanted, that she momentarily forgets she has cut her hair. She cries as she realizes she will not be able to use them.
