Being too honest can hurt someone depending on the situation. Say your sister passed away and the only thing you had left of her was a pin that you clipped to your shirt. Its a connection to your sister right? But then your friend comes up to you and says thats ugly. That would really hurt because it was your sisters and the only the you had left of hers.

Explanation:

There are other examples in which im sure other people will give an example but my opinion on this matter is it depends. Being honest is a debated thing. If your being honest as in telling the truth, then I think its okay. But if your stating a opinion of matter of taste (like my example) then maybe some things should be kept to ourselves.
