Musicians, singers, songwriters, actors, directors, etc. all spend their days creating a product of some sort that will be exchanged for monetary compensation. Just as any other business sells their products or services, when music or movies are downloaded from the Internet, they should be done so at a cost.

One lesson that my dad taught me is that everything costs money. If you want to buy something, you have to get a job and save up your money. Even for music. I remember when I used to buy CDs. The hottest song would be out and I would have to wait until I had enough money to buy it. Even though it is really easy to download all kinds of awesome stuff on the Internet, you have to be careful that you are being fair. Musicians and artists put their heart and soul into what they do. It wouldn't be cool to just download their work from the Internet without paying for it.

Not everything from the Internet is free. You have to be careful what you get yourself into when you click "yes" on something. Even though I hate having to pay for stuff, I know what is right and I know that if I download something that I need to make sure I can pay for it. I wouldn't want someone downloading my work and not paying for it. I am an artist, too. I have put some of my artwork online for people to see, not buy. But if I found out that someone downloaded my art, I would call the police because that is stealing.
