The first number is 40. The second, third, and fourth number each add 7, so we have 3 steps to get to the fourth step, so we must add 7 *3 = 21 to 40, which is 61.

You just keep adding 7 to the first number.
First number is 40.
Second number is 40+7 which is 47.
Third number is 47+7 which is 54.
Fourth number is 54+7 which is 61.

Or you could do 7 X 3 = 21 and add that to 40.
The answer is 61.

From part 2 of the novel , pick one paragraph in which the author uses semicolons and in 150 -200 words , tell how they are used
Rus_ich [418]

Hello,

With him, life was routine; without him, life was unbearable. - Chapter 12.

In this case, the author used semicolons because, altought there is not any conjunctive adverb or coordinating conjunction, there is a preposition, which in this case is "without", that is linking two closely connected main clauses. There are 2 clauses, independent syntactically, but very close semantically. The author is giving us two different perspectives; however, they both has a deep relationship: having or not having someone.  Finally, it is worth clarifying that, prepositions are used to establish a relationship between 2 clauses, like in this situation, for example.

In Oedipus the King, how does the setting MOST affect the development of the plot?
Katen [24]
The setting changes to add onto the story. how the first king heard from Delphi that he would be killed by his own son and the son was to marry his mother after. So he has a servant bring the son into the mountains and leave it there, The shepherd or king of the next kingdom over finds him and raises him without telling him that he was adopted and wasnt their son. So when Oedipus goes to seek his destiny and hears that he well kill his father and marry his mother, he despairs and leaves to try and change his destiny. Upon his path he murders a charioteer and their servants who didnt show respect and treated him horribly without realizing it was his true father and the king of Thebes (was it thebes? a bit rusty on the names) he travels on and meets the Sphinx, solves her riddle and gets it good with being king there until the truth was uncovered. So as the setting changes, we trail along with it, shifting our moods with the plot and surrounding details

ASAP!!!! What do you guys think... Are people who commit terrible acts purely evil, or can they also have some good in them?
slamgirl [31]

Answer: I think they’re purely evil. People who commit the crimes have bad intentions, they don’t second guess themselves until they got caught, well, most of them, some might be clinically insane and such, but it’s all how the human mind works.
