Identify a group that was not considered equal when the constitution was written. how did the new country fail to protect this group?

Woman were not equal, the constitution failed to give them the right to vote, or have equal representation. However as a living document gave an ability to change such injustices. Without a voice women were unable to effect change in the public domain.
