Simon Bolivar was an army man who fought for independence from the Spanish fiefdoms in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna fought for Mexican Independence from Spain and Benito Juarez resisted the French occupation of Mexico.
