Louis Seymour Bazett Leakey was born on August 7, 1903, in Kabete, Kenya, and was raised by English missionary parents among the Kikuyu people.  Paleoanthropologist Louis Leakey, with wife Mary Leakey, established an excavation site at Olduvai Gorge to search for fossils.
