Answer:

Perpendicular lines are simply the lines that make 90° with each other. (make a right angle)

 • These lines are studied and given a name because it's helpful and makes the concepts of slopes, tangents, and normals easier.

For example if we know the slope of one line AB and we're given to find the slop of another line CD which is perpendicular to AB.

we can find it's slope without even knowing the co ordinates it passes thru. CD's slope will be the negative reciprocal of the line AB.

That way we skipped a lot of calculations and jumped straight way to the answer.

What is the slope of the line?
y + 1 = 3(2x - 4)
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer: 6

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's start by getting the equation to slope intercept form

First simplify

y + 1 = 3(2x - 4)\\\\y+1=6x-12

Then get y by itself

y+1-1=6x-12-1\\y=6x-13

In slope intercept form y=mx+b, m is the slope

In this case the slope is 6

Anna [14]

The given info is sufficient to warrant the conclusion that both triangles are 45-45-90 triangles.

The measure of angle B is 45 degrees, or pi/4 radians.

The cosine of this angle B is 1/√2, or √(2)/2. This is approx. 0.707.
