Answer:

Perpendicular lines are simply the lines that make 90° with each other. (make a right angle)

  • These lines are studied and given a name because it's helpful and makes the concepts of slopes, tangents, and normals easier.

<u>For example</u> if we know the slope of one line AB and we're given to find the slop of another line CD which is perpendicular to AB.

we can find it's slope without even knowing the co ordinates it passes thru. CD's slope will be the negative reciprocal of the line AB.

That way we skipped a lot of calculations and jumped straight way to the answer.
