Gerald owed Cindy two dollars. He gave her ten because he felt bad. What should be put in between the two sentences to make them
PilotLPTM [1.2K]

Answer:

B) A semicolon

Explanation:

A semicolon is a punctuation mark used to join two clauses together.. These clauses must be independent. These independent clauses are joined by a semicolon to form a complete sentence. On the other hand, a comma is used to separate clauses or objects in a sentence or phrase. A semicolon should not be used in place of a colon or comma. All three have their own duties. A colon is used when an emphasis is about to be made or when listing items. A hyphen is used to join two or more words but without spacing

An apostrophe is used when a word was omitted.

Read this stanza from “The Chimney Sweepers.” What is ironic about the situation of the sweepers?
Temka [501]

Answer :

Your Dictionary defines "cosmic irony" as "Cosmic irony can be attributed to some sort of misfortune. This form of irony is the result of fate or chance and the outcomes are not a result of the characters' actions. So it can seem as if an outside force has a hand in the situation. "

In the given stanza from "The Chimney Sweepers," cosmic irony has been used to imply that in order for the sweepers’ conditions to improve, they have to die.

In Tom's dream the Angel tells him that he should continue to do his duty of chimney sweeping despite the physical, mental and emotional trauma he undergoes on a daily basis. This is because his situation is not likely to get better. The condition of chimney sweepers can only improve in the afterlife after their death. She does not do anything to improve his present condition.

"The swimming contest" ends with the word losers. what do you think the author means for readers to understand by this? what was
Aleonysh [2.5K]
It ends with the word losers because they are all losers in the end even if somebody wins. What was lost was the desire to win because everybody swam and some people thought that they are the best are they just can't do it. So mainly, nobody had the wit to think that the could do more than just win.
