History

Answer:

A continental divide is a drainage divide on a continent such that the drainage basin on one side of the divide feeds into one ocean or sea and the basin on the other side feeds into a different ocean or sea.  The most famous Continental Divide of the Americas is called the Great Divide. It separates the watersheds of the Pacific Ocean from those of the Atlantic Ocean. It runs from Alaska, through western Canada along the crest of the Rocky Mountains to New Mexico. From there, it follows the crest of Mexico’s Sierra Madre Occidental and extends to the tip of South America. However, this isn’t North America’s only continental divide, there is also the Northern Continental Divide, the Eastern Continental Divide, the Saint Lawrence River Divide, the Great Basin, and the Laurentian River Divide.

Why did some people think it was necessary to give the federal government more power than the states?
vlada-n [284]
If i remember correctly, the people thought (and were right) that the states would become more like their own mini countries, this did end up happening, where the states didnt pay taxes to the country and the country didnt have the right to take it, this led to the constitution to be written, taking out the articles of confederation

do you think heroic action is always a reflection of a positive attitude or feeling of the doer towards the situation, another p
Alex73 [517]

The correct answer to this open question is the following.

I think heroic action is a reflection of a positive attitude or feeling of the doer towards the situation, another person, or the country, but no all the time.

Sometimes a heroic action is the consequence of a desperate "live or die" moment in which people have to do something "unimaginable" or "impossible" in order to survive.

Once in a while, we see the news reporting on how a mother, a slim woman, performed an unbelievable act to rescue her children after an accident or an earthquake, lifting heavy rocks or objects to take her children or family member away from risk.

These situations just happen under too much pressure, where people automatically react to save lives,  for instance. In the same example of the slim woman, by no means she could lift heavy weights in normal conditions. But under too much stress and facing life or death situations, people become heroes.
