Answer:

Primarily, the specific notes talking about similarities and differences.

Explanation:

The topic sentence points out the the text will talk about 'alike'nesses and 'differences,' both of which are common in compare and contrast.  This is further hammered home by the text which, well, compares and contrasts.  If a text mentions similarities and differences, its likely in a compare and contrast structure.

Why does Wiesel end his speech with several questions?
klasskru [66]

Answer: The questions leave the audience to come up with their own answers. However, the way the questions are asked he is guiding the audience to have similar answers. If we look at the other options, it is almost easier to eliminate the other options to verify that we are correct. Option A talks about a warm comfortable feeling. However, Wiesel does not want to leave the audience feeling warm and comfortable. He wants the audience to have a reaction to the horrors and injustices being done in the world. He no longer wants people to be indifferent to human suffering. Option B mentions are religious plea...there is no religion in his questions. Option C is about him directly stating his opinion. Questions are not direct statements...this is wrong. Option D is the only valid choice.

The correct answers are A. Begin and B. Shop

Explanation:

Suffixes are syllables or letters added after a word to create a new word derived from the original word. Additionally, in some cases due to language conventions, the original word is modified before any suffix can be added; this includes doubling the final consonant. From the options, this occurs in the words begin and shop; for example, in the word "beginner", in which the prefix "-er" is added to form a noun, the last letter "n" is doubled; this also applies to the word beginning. Similarly, in words such as "shopper" with the -er suffix or "shopping" the "p" is doubled.
