Answer: v = 18

Explanation: if 26 is equal to 8 + v, then you’d have to subtract 8 from 26 to get v. I know this because then when you add 18 (v) and 8 together, you’ll get an equal if 26.

Suppose X and Y are non-empty sets. Which set contains more elements: X U Y or X ∩ Y? Explain.
katrin [286]

Answer:

The union of two sets is guaranteed to result in an equal or larger set than if they were intersected.

This only makes sense because intersecting sets is exceptional, only values that already exist in both sets are in the result.  Whereas a union of two sets gives you all of the content of both.

The only time when an intersection is even equal to a union is when the two sets are identical.  If they aren't then the intersection will be smaller.

Long division.
lyudmila [28]

Answer: The answer is 1,037. You did good with the first three steps but you need to do the same for the last step, because you have 21 you have to find how many times 3 goes into it, which would be 7, and that gives you your full answer of 1,037.

A survey of 865 voters in one state reveals that 408 favor approval of an issue before the legislature.
insens350 [35]

Answer: D) 0.438 < p < 0.505

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that the confidence interval for population proportion is given by :-

\hat{p}\pm z^*\sqrt{\dfrac{\hat{p}(1-\hat{p})}{n}}

, where n= sample size

\hat{p} = Sample proportion.

z* = critical value.

Given : A survey of 865 voters in one state reveals that 408 favor approval of an issue before the legislature.

i.e. n= 865

\hat{p}=\dfrac{408}{865}\approx0.4717

Two-tailed critical avlue for 95% confidence interval : z* = 1.96

Then, the 95 % confidence interval for the true proportion of all voters in the state who favor approval will be :-

0.4717\pm (1.96)\sqrt{\dfrac{0.4717(1-0.4717)}{865}}\\\\\approx0.4717\pm 0.03327\\\\=(0.4717-0.03327,\ 0.4717+0.03327)=(0.43843,\ 0.50497)\approx(0.438,\ 0.505)

Thus, the required 95% confidence interval : (0.438, 0.505)

Hence, the correct answer is D) 0.438 < p < 0.505
