Dexter has a gift card for $20.00 to an electronics store. He also has a coupon for 25% off his entire purchase, so he will be p

aying 75% of the total cost. He plans to buy a video game for $10.00 and batteries for $2.00. Select the equation that represents how much money will be left on his gift card after his purchases if x represents his remaining balance.
What is the equation that represents his remaining balance?
x = 20 + 0.75(10 + 2)
x = 20 – 0.75(10 + 2)
x = 20 + 0.25(10 + 2)
x = 20 – 0.25(10 + 2)

Answer: X=20-0.75(10+2)

Please mark brainliest!

Step-by-step explanation:

It would be B x=20-0.75(10+2)

because 20 is the amount of the gift card and 0.75 is the percent you will be paying so you subtract the total of 10 and 2 and subtract from 20 and thats the amount you have left!

Find the rule for the following sequence, and then find the 10th term of the sequence.
adell [148]

Step-by-step explanation:

1/2, 2, 9/2, ....

equivalent with :

½, 4/2, 9/2, ...

the rule is : Un = n²/2

so, U10= 10²/2 = 100/2= 50

Trig proofs with Pythagorean Identities.
lorasvet [3.4K]

To prove:

$\frac{1}{1-\cos x}-\frac{\cos x}{1+\cos x}=2 \cot ^{2} x+1

Solution:

$LHS = \frac{1}{1-\cos x}-\frac{\cos x}{1+\cos x}

Multiply first term by \frac{1+cos x}{1+cos x} and second term by \frac{1-cos x}{1-cos x}.

        $= \frac{1(1+\cos x)}{(1-\cos x)(1+\cos x)}-\frac{\cos x(1-\cos x)}{(1+\cos x)(1-\cos x)}

Using the identity: (a-b)(a+b)=(a^2-b^2)

        $= \frac{1+\cos x}{(1^2-\cos^2 x)}-\frac{\cos x-\cos^2 x}{(1^2-\cos^2 x)}

Denominators are same, you can subtract the fractions.

       $= \frac{1+\cos x-\cos x+\cos^2 x}{(1^2-\cos^2 x)}

Using the identity: 1-\cos ^{2}(x)=\sin ^{2}(x)

       $= \frac{1+\cos^2 x}{\sin^2x}

Using the identity: 1=\cos ^{2}(x)+\sin ^{2}(x)

       $=\frac{\cos ^{2}x+\cos ^{2}x+\sin ^{2}x}{\sin ^{2}x}

       $=\frac{\sin ^{2}x+2 \cos ^{2}x}{\sin ^{2}x} ------------ (1)

RHS=2 \cot ^{2} x+1

Using the identity: \cot (x)=\frac{\cos (x)}{\sin (x)}

        $=1+2\left(\frac{\cos x}{\sin x}\right)^{2}

       $=1+2\frac{\cos^{2} x}{\sin^{2} x}

       $=\frac{\sin^2 x + 2\cos^{2} x}{\sin^2 x} ------------ (2)

Equation (1) = Equation (2)

LHS = RHS

$\frac{1}{1-\cos x}-\frac{\cos x}{1+\cos x}=2 \cot ^{2} x+1

Hence proved.
