Answer:

The year in which there was the largest increase in military personnel was 1943. The total amount of Army

The total amount of Army personnel that were drafted in that year alone almost doubled the amount from the previous year.

This explains the spike in the total number of military personnel who were recruited that year.

Explanation:

This period in the history of the United States of America coincides with the World-War era. The increases in military strength happened in the middle of the World War period. This explains the reason for the increases can be explained by certain activities which happened between 1942 and 1945.

In 1942 the total active military personnel that was drafted numbered 3,585,791. In 1943 that figured increased to 9,044,745 with the Army being the largest figure for activated personnel among the other categories which comprise the Navy, and the Marines.

In the North African War, US forces were first checked to a small degree and then employed more seriously in Italy with the British Forces in 1943-45, where US forces, comprising around a third of the Allied forces mobilized, bogged down after Italy surrendered and the Germans took over. Finally, under General Dwight D. Eisenhower, France's biggest attack took place in June 1944. Meanwhile, when it knocked out what was left of the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain in 1944, the US Army Air Forces and the British Royal Air Force participated in the area bombing of German cities and aggressively attacked German transportation connections and synthetic oil factories.

Why did conservatives oppose the Nee Deal?
riadik2000 [5.3K]

Answer:

The New Deal involved the redistribution of wealth, which is every conservative's greatest fear

Explanation:

Conservatives strongly believe in small government, low taxes, no handouts and letting Wall Street do its thing without government interference. These bedrock principles work really well--until they don't. In 1929, an under-regulated stock market collapsed. The people who weathered the storm (and there were some) believed that letting the market fix itself was the obvious solution to the problem, and Herbert Hoover was more than willing to let it try.

Three years in, it still wasn't working. Franklin Roosevelt's approach was to create a lot of public works projects where the government would tax the wealthy and pay the poor to paint banks, dig ditches and fix up the Tennessee Valley. He also closed the banks to prevent depositors from emptying them and keeping the cash in their mattresses until the troubles passed.

America survived the Depression by socializing itself to a pretty minor degree, until the war began and the war effort put most people back to work again. Conservatives at the time believed that a program of tax breaks and less regulation would have done the job better, but that just wasn't most Americans' reality.
