Manorialism refers to a political, economic, and social system found in the Medieval Europe. In this system rural society was arranged around a manor house or castle on a state. This manor was the basci unit of the system, it was a self-sifficient landed state. The manor was controlled by the lord and maintained by the peasants in return for protection as well as the right to work a separate piece of land for their needs. The lord and the peasants were linked by serfdom, this means the lord had some rights over them.

As you can see, both the lord and the peasants had some benefits from this system. Although the lord always got more advantages, the peasants were protected.

Why did the us refused to let the st louis dock in the us?
Angelina_Jolie [31]
They were afraid of large numbers of Jews coming in from (in the case of the St. Louis) Germany. 900 people is a lot of people but it would only be the tip of the iceberg if people were allowed to cross the Atlantic and go into the United States. There was a quota of how many people could come in and the US wanted to keep to the quota system.

The United States (at the time of the St. Louis sailing) was neutral, so they also didn't want to endanger that neutrality.
