With surface temperatures estimated at minus 230 degrees Farenheit, Jupiter's moon Europa has long been considered far too cold to support life, and with 60 square miles of water though to be frozen from top to bottom

A) Europa has long been considered far too cold to support life, and with

C) Europa has long been considered as far too cold to support life and has

D) Europa, long considered as far too cold to support life, and its

E) Europa, long considered to be far too cold to support life, and to have

Answer:

B) Europa has long been considered far too cold to support life, its

Explanation:

Options C, D, E are incorrect because when looking at the sentences in these options,

Option A) ' A) Europa has long been considered far too cold to support life, and with' is also wrong as well because comma(,) and 'and' were not used properly in the sentence

Option C)  'Europa has long been considered as far too cold to support life and has' is wrong as well.

Option D) 'Europa, long considered as far too cold to support life, and its' is wrong because there is no verb present

Option E) 'Europa, long considered to be far too cold to support life, and to have' is wrong because it has no verb also.

Option B is the only correct option because the noun in the sentence was modified properly.

The noun in sentence = Europa has long been considered far too cold to support

Modifier= 'its 60 square miles of water though to be frozen from top to bottom'

New crust is being produced at a mid-ocean ridge. How does the affect the total size of the crust?
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

The crust size remains constant because the older crust is melted at subduction zones.

Explanation:

The crust is constnatly created on Earth, but the crust is constantly getting destroyed as well. This situation leads to the total size of the crust being roughly at the same level, or rather constant, as one side a new one emerges, while at the same time, on the other side it gets destroyed.

The vast majority of the new crust is formed where there are divergent plate boundaries. Here, a gap opens up between the plates that move away and magma is constantly rising to the surface and creates new crust. When it comes to the destruction of crust, it occurs at subduction zones. Here, one plate moves below another plate, and as it does it reaches the upper mantle where it gets melted and recycled because of the high temperatures and pressure.

Explain how plate tectonics have changed Earth’s surface over time. Include the role of plate tectonics in the creation of land
Rudiy27

Explanation:

The Earth is comprised of many plates that float on the hot magma in the mantle layer. They are constantly moving but its so slow we can't feel it. A long time ago, all the land on Earth was connected in one big continent named Pangaea. As the plates have moved the land has separated forming the continents.

When plates come together they cause friction between them. This causes the plates to push up forming a mountain. This was how the Himalayan mountains were formed.
