"In the past two centuries, a revolution has transformed women’s lives. Unlike national revolutions, this social upheaval crosse

s continents, decades, and ideologies. In place of armed struggle it gradually sows seeds of change, infiltrating our consciousness with the simple premise that women are as capable and valuable as men. To measure the breadth of this ongoing upheaval of old patterns, consider the way feminist movements have transformed law and politics. . . . Or note the change in leadership. . . . Women’s movements have never been so widespread.”

a. A specific example of how women's rights and roles have changes over time would be the access by women to receiving secondary education. As many activists and reformers fought for years for women's rights, in 1830, the first form of extended education became readily available to women. This form of professional education was training to become a teacher. As the amount of public schools increased throughout the United States, the number of teachers grew rapidly. This is able to connect to the passage's description of how "struggle was able to sow seeds of change", and the way that people protested and demanded for equal rights paid off and continues to change our current time.

b. Another example of how women's rights and roles have been able to change over time is the ability for women to run for and hold positions in public office. Throughout the last 1800's, women organizations fought for women to be seen as equal and have the opportunity to vote. In 1920, women were given the right to vote as guaranteed by the Nineteenth Amendment. From this, many women were able to hold office such as Jeanette Pickering Rankin, the first woman to hold federal office in the United States House of Representatives.

c. An example of how a continuity in the rights of the roles of women that counters the argument made in the text is the continued struggle for women to receive equal wages to that of men. Pay disparities have always been evident between men and women. Congress of the United States took action in 1963 by passing the Equal Pay Act, although the issue was an important topic since the 1860's. This issue still takes place today, with data showing that women earn 82 cents for every dollar a man earns. This data contradicts with the passage's argument that "women are as capable and valuable as men", because they continue to get paid less wages is work environments.

Answer:

A) One specific example of how a change in the rights or roles of women from 1800 to the present corresponds to the argument made in the text is that women can now run for public office. This connects to how the author describes how women are just as capable and valuable as men.

B) Another specific example of how a change in the rights or roles of women from 1800 to the present corresponds to the argument made in the text is that women can get a post-secondary education now.

C) One specific example of how a continuity in the rights or roles of women from 1800 to the present counters an argument made in the text is that women are still struggling to get paid a wage that is equal to that of a man. This counters the argument that these movement would be able to change all the woes women face.

Do you think that monroe doctrine was justified?why or why not?
Anit [1.1K]
Based on the perspective of newly independent Latin Countries it would be justifiable because it gave them hope of a powerful nation that will aid them if a European would to colonize or retake them back in their fold. It also a way to prevent major powerful nations to take advantage of newly created ones especially in the new world.
