Given:

In parallelogram PQRS, m\angle Q=(20+2x)^\circ,\ m\angle R=6x^\circ.

To find:

The value of x.

Solution:

In a parallelogram, the consecutive interior angles are supplementary angles.

In parallelogram PQRS,

m\angle Q+m\angle R=180^\circ            (Supplementary angles)

(20+2x)^\circ+(6x)^\circ=180^\circ

(20+8x)^\circ=180^\circ

20+8x=180

Subtracting 20 from both sides, we get

8x=180-20

8x=160

Divide both sides by 8.

\dfrac{8x}{8}=\dfrac{160}{8}

x=20

Therefore, the correct option is C.

 Quadrilateral ABCD is inscribed in this circle.
Anna [14]
A quadrilateral, has 4 sides and its internal angles sum, add up to 360, now... you have 3 angles give.. .but we don't have C

so.. C is the difference of all the three angles from 360 or  \bf \measuredangle C=360-x-(2x+1)-148\implies \measuredangle C=360-x-2x-1-148   whatever that is, now, you'll get some value in x-terms

so.... now once we know what C is

you can if you want, do a search in google for "inscribed quadrilateral conjecture",  I can do a quick proof if you need one

but in short, for a quadrilateral inscribed in a circle, each pair of opposites angles are "supplementary angles", namely they add up to 180°

so.. what the dickens does all that mean?   well D+B=180 and A+C = 180

now. we know what A is, 2x+1
and by now, you'd know what C is from  360-x-2x-1-148

so... add them together then   and

\bf \begin{array}{cccclllll}
A&+&C&=&180\\
\uparrow &&\uparrow \\
(2x+1)&+&(360-x-2x-1-148)&=&180
\end{array}

solve for "x"

A cooler has 12 apple juices and 15 grape juices. 9 of the apple juices are sugar free and 5 of the grape juices are sugar free.
Romashka-Z-Leto [24]

Answer:

<em>The probability that it is grape juice, given that the juice is not sugar free is </em><em>0.769 or 76.9%</em>

Step-by-step explanation:

P(\text{Grape }|\text{ Not sugar free})=\dfrac{P(\text{Grape }\cap \text{ Not sugar free})}{P(\text{Not sugar free})}

A cooler has 12 apple juices and 15 grape juices. So total 27 juices are there.

Out of 12 apple juices, 9 of the apple juices are sugar free, so 3 are not sugar free.

Out of 15 grape juices, 5 of the grape juices are sugar free, so 10 are not sugar free. So,

P(\text{Grape }\cap \text{ Not sugar free})=\dfrac{10}{27}

P(\text{Not sugar free})=\dfrac{10+3}{27}=\dfrac{13}{27}

Putting the values,

P(\text{Grape }|\text{ Not sugar free})=\dfrac{P(\text{Grape }\cap \text{ Not sugar free})}{P(\text{Not sugar free})}=\dfrac{\frac{10}{27}}{\frac{13}{27}}=\dfrac{10}{13}=0.769

If the ratio of boys to girls at the school is 2:5 and there are 40 boys how many girls are there?
sukhopar [10]

Answer:

100 girls

Step-by-step explanation:

The ratio of boys : girls is 2 : 5.

In other words, boys are 2 parts of the school while girls are 5 parts of the school.

Since there are 40 boys, 2 parts of the school is 40. Thus:

2p = 40\\p = 20

1 part is 20.

Since there are 5 parts girls, there are

5p = 5*20 = 100

100 girls.
