Sediment is carried by long-shore drift. When there is a change in the shape of the coastline, deposition occurs. A long thin ridge of material is deposited. This is the spit. A hooked end can form if there is a change in wind direction. Waves cannot get past a spit, therefore the water behind a spit is very sheltered. Silts are deposited here to form salt marshes or mud flats.

Hey kiddo.
It takes about 365 days, for Earth to orbit the Sun. At 67,000 miles an hour it does so. An elementary way of knowing this concept is knowing how many days are in a year. There are 365 days in a year, thus it takes 365 days for earth to travel around the sun. It may be 366 if you are including the leap year that comes to past in intervals of 4 years. The next leap year is in 2020.
Plates at our planet's surface move because of the intense heat in the Earth's core that causes molten rock in the mantle layer to move. It moves in a pattern called a convection cell that forms when warm material rises, cools, and eventually sink down.
Hope this helps :)
