An abundance of natural resources
<em>Brown v. Board of Education </em>overturned the earlier decision in <em>Plessy v. Ferguson.</em>
<em>Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka</em>, decided by the US Supreme Court in 1954, extended civil liberties to all Americans in regard to access to education. Until that decision, it was legal to segregate schools according to race, so that black students could not attend the same schools as white students. An older Supreme Court decision, <em>Plessy v. Ferguson</em> (1896), had said that separate, segregated public facilities were acceptable as long as the facilities offered were equal in quality. In the case of <em>Brown v. Board of Education</em>, that standard was challenged and defeated. Segregation was shown to create inequality, and the Supreme Court unanimously ruled segregation to be unconstitutional.
At the start of the civil war the north held larger industrial capabilites and also a much more condensed population which allowed for more men to be brought up fast while the south had the advantage of owning the raw materials needed for the north to survive and also allowed great amounts of trade until the blockade, The south would of been favored if it went fast since the south needed a quick defensive war to survive but the longer the war wore on the north began to take the advantage since it could produce the supplies needed for war which showed by the end of the war where the south could no longer supply soldiers or even give them shoes which was partly why the battle of ghettysburg happened
