Step 3 is where it goes wrong first. Step two, you divide both sides of the equation by 4 so 4x/4= just X so it should end at step 3 with just x=5 and don’t continue because then you’re dividing twice.

Two friends Ana and Juan are buying books by joining the History Book
Travka [436]

Answer:

Ana  spent $17  per book on average.

Juan  spent $14.78  per book on average.

y = $15 + 17x--------- equation 1

y= $10 + 14.78 x------------- equation 2

Step-by-step explanation:

Ana has to pay a yearly fee of $15 to join.

She spends a total of $525 for 30 books.

The amount spent on books = Total amount - yearly fee

                                                 = $525- $15= $510

Price per book on the average = $510/30= $ 17

Ana  spent $17  per book on average.

Juan has to pay a yearly fee of $10 to join.

He spends a total of $350 for 23 books.

The amount spent on books = Total amount - yearly fee

                                                 = $350- $10= $340

Price per book on the average = $340/23= $ 14.78≅ $15

Juan  spent $14.78  per book on average.

The function can be established if y gives the total cost and x gives the number of books

y = $15 + 17x--------- equation 1

y= $10 + 14.78 x------------- equation 2

Juan has a better deal because the yearly fee is less also the price per book is less.

A pound of blueberries costs $3
Irina-Kira [14]

Answer:

$6.87

Step-by-step explanation:

For the blueberries we multiply 3.98 with .6 pounds to get 2.39

We do the same for the other item 2.49 X 1.8 = 4.48

Total the two for the answer:

2.39 + 4.48 = 6.87

Tell why sometimes you write the percent as a fraction and other times as a decimal when you find the percent of a number.
Marysya12 [62]
A percentage is a portion out of 100, and because it is a portion of a whole it can be written as a fraction of an amount (in this case a fraction of 100). You can also rewrite this as a decimal because a fraction is essentially the same thing as a division problem and when you divide a number by 100 you usually get a decimal (if the numerator is smaller than 100 that is), and also because decimals are similar to fractions because they represent parts a whole unit for instance the percentage 72% is equivalent to the fraction 72/100 which is the same as 72 divided by 100 which is the same as the decimal 0.72.

Sorry for the long explanation but I hope this helped!

steposvetlana [31]

The length of the carpet's side is 11 feet

Step-by-step explanation:

Step 1 :

The area covered by the carpet = 121 square feet

We need to find the length of side of  carpet

Step 2 :

Since it is given that the carpet is square, the length of all sides are the same

The area is obtained by squaring the side. Hence to find the side from the given area we need to take the root of the area.

Side²  = 121

Therefore side = √121 = 11 feet

Step 3 :

Answer :

The length of the carpet's side is 11 feet
