Your answer is $1.26
You can solve this problem with or without a calculator, and I don't know if you're allowed one or not so I'll show you both ways

Calculator:
The easiest way to find percentages of values on the calculator is to use the decimal multipliers, which are just the decimal value of the percentage. For example, 50% would be 0.5, 75% would be 0.75 etc. The decimal value of 15% is 0.15, so you would do 8.40 × 0.15 = 1.26

Non-Calculator:
This is a bit longer, but gives you the same answer. To solve without a calculator, you first divide 8.40 by 10 to find 10%, which is 0.84. Now you can divide that by 2 to find 5%, which would be 0.42, and then you add the two values (because 10% + 5% = 15%) to get 1.26

I hope this helps!

pantera1 [17]

Answer:

$0.65

Step-by-step explanation:

x=cost of washcloth

x+1.20=cost of towel

Now,

x+x+1.20=2.50

2x=1.30

x=0.65

So, cost of washcloth is $0.65

The length of a rectangular field is 6 metres longer than its width. If the area of the field is 72 square metres, What are the
True [87]

Answer:

Let's call the length of the field "l", and the width of the field "w".

If the area of the field is 72 square meters, then we have:

l x w = 72

And if the length is 6 meters longer than the width, we have:

l = w+6

So looking at the first equation (l x w = 72), we can substitute the l for a w+6.

And we obtain:

(w+6) x (w) = 72

Which simplifies to w^2 + 6w = 72.

This quadratic equation is pretty easy to solve, you just need to factor it.

w^2 + 6w - 72 = 0

(w-6)(w+12)

This leaves the roots of the  quadratic equation to be 6 and -12, but in this case, a width of -12 wouldn't make sense.

So, the width of the rectangular field is 6, and the length of the field is 12.

Let me know if this helps!
