Booker T. Washington- Influential writer who believed that in order for african americans to gain civil rights in America, they would have to prove themselves as productive, contributing members of society, and if they did, they would finally be accepted.

W.E.B Du Bois- Influential writer who's views opposed that of Booker T. Washington. He believed that the only way that black people could achieve equality was through protesting, violence, and agitation to assure their voices were being heard.
