The view was utterly breathtaking, so breathtaking in quite a manner that I shook my head in disbelief, waiting for someone to pinch me and wake me up from this fanciful dream.

It does make sense, depending on what is being described in the poem as well also determines if it should make sense or not, but I understand what they are trying to say, they see something that is shocking them in a good way that they can hardly believe it's real.
