This phenomenon is modeled with a differential equation, and that equation may be solved to give T(t) = TA + [T0 − TA]b t where

T(t) is the varying temperature of the object at a given time, t, TA is the surrounding ambient temperature, T0 is the initial temperature of the object, and b is a constant that depends on the material the object is composed of and how fast it heats or cools.
Suppose you decided to make a cup of hot tea heated to 220 F in the kitchen that is at 70 F.

1.Solve the above equation for the constant b.

2.If the cup of hot tea cooled to 170 F in 10 minutes, find the value of the constant b in the above equation. Express your answer to 5 decimal places.

3.Solve the above equation for t.

4.Suppose you like your hot tea at the tepid temperature of 100 F. How long, to the nearest minute, will you have to wait until it cools to this temperature?

To go along with your hot tea, you take a frozen apple pie from the freezer and place it in the oven preheated to 350 F. Assume the freezer is at 32 F.

5.If the apple pie comes to a temperature of 100 F in 20 minutes, find the value of the constant b in the above equation. Express your answer to 5 decimal places.

6.How long will it take for the pie to reach its final temperature of 200 F?

7. The pie is taken out of the oven and set on a table in a room at 70 F. In 10 minutes, it has cooled to 180 F. However, the pie must cool to 120 F before it is ready to eat. How much longer will you have to wait?

8. Which statement can be represented by the equation shown?<br> 9x-2=8x
Thepotemich [5.8K]

Answer:

A or the 1st one

Step-by-step explanation:

Angelo is making 9 dollars per hour but, loses 2 dollars due to the bus fee. So in math form that would be:

9x - 2

And the second part is Tom makes 8 dollars per hour but doesn't have to pay for bus fee. In math form that would be;

8x

So put that together that would be

9x - 2 = 8x

Use the following data set to answer numbers 1 - 4.
Jet001 [13]

Answer:

15, 8, 13, 13

Step-by-step explanation:

(1) mean =  Σx / n = 135 / 9 = 15

(2) range = highest value - lowest value = 21 - 13 = 8

(3) mode = 13 (most repeated value in data set)

(4) for 9 values in a data set, we have that (9 + 1) / 2 = 5th number

median = 13

How many tablets should a 39 kg patient take every four hours?
PolarNik [594]
50 mg/kg/day x 34 kg = 1700 mg/day
1700 mg/day x 1 day/24 hrs x 4 hrs = 283 mg every 4 hrs

283 mg/4hrs x 1 tablet/400 mg = 0.7 tablets

So to acieve the desired dose, the pati should take seven tenths of a tablet every 4 hours. Thats an unusual dosage since it’s difficult to take 0.7 tablet. The question didnt ask about the liquid suspension so I didn’t include that.
