Summary

An hour later, Walter’s loss of the insurance money fills the apartment with “a sullen light of gloom.” Asagai enters the apartment to visit Beneatha, who is deeply upset about the lost money. Beneatha explains the situation to Asagai and he asks her how she is doing. Beneatha responds, “Me? . . . Me, I’m nothing.” She then recounts the story behind her initial desire to become a doctor, telling Asagai of a childhood friend who was severely injured in a sledding accident. Beneatha tells Asagai that she was amazed that “one person could . . . sew up the problem, make him all right again,” although she states that she has now lost her youthful idealism.

Hope this helps :)

Read the poem below and answer the question that follows.
Viktor [21]

The theme of this poem is this:

 • Remain humble no matter how experienced you think you are at something.
 • Imagery helps the reader to visualize everything that transpired in the pitch. For instance, in these lines, "Ten thousand eyes were on him as he rubbed his hands with dirt;" and "He pounds with cruel violence his bat upon the plate," the reader can better feel and sense the tension in the air as Casey arrived to play.

What is the theme of a poem?

When asked to find the theme of a poem, we are required to determine the main lesson that should be taken from the reading of the poem.

In the poem above, we can see how overconfidence contributed to the mighty fall of Casey. His arrogance made him ignore the rules of the game that aided his tumultuous defeat.

So, the life lesson that is derived from this is that we must never become proud no matter our level of achievement in life.
