How did cold war tensions between the united states and the soviet union contribute to the escalation of the cuban missile crisi
Bingel [31]

Answer:

The Bay of Pigs invasion failed which caused distrust and increased tensions between the US and Cuba. It brought the Soviets and Cuba closer together because Khrushchev saw what the US tried to do and he asked Castro to be allies. Castro accepted because he needed a strong ally. Khrushchev and Castro start to build missile launchers in Cuba. Thus starting the Cuban Misslle Crisis.

Why would Gorbachev's decision to send in troops to crush the Lithuanian rebellion be seen as hypocritical
QveST [7]
It might have been seen as hypocritical because he claimed that the Soviets did not use armed people and weapons during the uprising and he wanted for Lithuanians to come back to the Soviets voluntarily. He did threaten with weapons and war, but it would be hypocritical to use it since he claimed that they were not aggressive.

In this letter lieutenant kempner describes a plant What does the plant look like?
murzikaleks [220]

Answer: He decribed a plant that had a flower which was soft and red and had no thorns on it.

Explanation: Marion Lee Kempner was a Marine lieutenant from Galveston, Texas and he wrote the letter to his great-aunt, Fannie Adoue, on Oct. 20, 1966 where he described a plant he said he saw and made him think of her.

In the letter, he detailed how his platoon was finishing up a three-day patrol, struggling over steep hills in nearly impenetrable jungle, when one of his men turned to him and pointed at a rather distinguished-looking plant with soft red flowers waving in the downpour and said that was the first plant he had seen that day which didn't have thorns on it.

Less than three weeks later, Lieutenant Kempner was killed in a mine explosion near Tien Phu at the age of 24.
