Basically, when a nation imperializes another region, it takes over either financially or forcibly and secures land. Colonialism was generally uncontrolled in Africa, where European nations were running left and option to snatch any land they could.
The answer is political science because law is simply not a science. Economics has more of a focus on studying human activities so that does not fit either.
