Explanation:

United States purchased the land of Alaska from Russia. Russia sold the land of Alaska as it found it difficult to defend it. United States wanted to increase its land and gain the resources found in the Alaska to get ahead in the race of becoming the world power. Russian government agreed for the Alaska Purchase because of the economical drawbacks in the country. Also, Russia wanted to make it's boundaries safe from Great Britain therefore it negotiated with the United States.
