Answer:

Proponents of the New South envisioned a post-Reconstruction southern economy modeled on the North’s embrace of the Industrial Revolution. Henry W. Grady, a newspaper editor in Atlanta, Georgia, coined the phrase the "New South” in 1874. He urged the South to abandon its longstanding agrarian economy for a modern economy grounded in factories, mines, and mills. Although textile mills and tobacco factories emerged in the South during this time, the plans for a New South largely failed. By 1900, per-capita income in the South was forty percent less than the national average, and rural poverty persisted across much of the South well into the twentieth century.

Which of the following political actions would be unacceptable to John Locke?
frutty [35]
Well from what I know about John Locke is that <span>John Locke was a philosopher who held different more positive views of human nature. He believed in natural rights of life, liberty, and property, and that all people are born free and equal with those three natural rights. Locke also believed that government had a moral obligation to guarantee that individuals always retained sovereignty over their own rights, including ownership of property that resulted from their own labor.

How did Jim Crow laws affect African Americans in the south?
Xelga [282]

Answer:

Jim Crow laws were a collection of state and local statutes that legalized racial segregation. Named after a Black minstrel show character, the laws—which existed for about 100 years, from the post-Civil War era until 1968—were meant to marginalize African Americans by denying them the right to vote, hold jobs, get an education or other opportunities.

What imperialist motives did the us have to annex Hawaii?
shtirl [24]

There where multiple different motives for the US to annex the Hawaii Islands, including economic, militaristic, and strategic motives.

Hawaii was a place that offered excellent conditions for production of high quality cash crops, especially sugar cane. The sugar cane was bringing in a lot of profit, so the US wanted to incorporate these islands because of the economic interest first.

The islands are located midway between North America and Asia, thus they have a good strategic location. What was going to be produced in Hawaii could have just been sold in Asia, thus lowering the expenses for transportation. Also, the islands were very useful as a place where a port can be built, and where the ships will be able to recharge.

The militaristic aspect was also important. Hawaii is located further west from the United States, so it provided nice conditions for building on a military basis which act as a first defense and warning line, or to be used for recharging and attacking.
