The main difference between Big Year and the Great Backyard Bird Count is that in "Big Year," the goal is to see who can count the most birds in the competition while on the other hand, Backyard Bird Count has the goal to not see who can count the most birds during the competition. The Backyard Bird Count creates more friendly competitions as compared to Big Year.  Participants in this event work together by helping the bird experts get a good idea of how birds are doing.
