Your school is considering adopting a policy that requires all students to complete 100 hours of community service during their

high school careers in order to graduate. The district has asked for student input at the next school board meeting as to whether or not they should adopt this policy. Research the topic, decide whether you are in favor of or against the new policy, and write a five-paragraph persuasive speech that you will deliver to the school board members and your principal.

Answer:

Explanation:

I'm not going to put the whole essay for you to skid off of, because

1: We don't have to.

2: That's a lot of things to do.

3: We have to do our own things today.

4: Teachers can easily trace back to this anyways.

(I don't like this policy tbh, so I'm not going to support it in this because this is just an example.)

Thesis example for this policy: Students should complete a set number of community service hours because it would develop their skills (leadership, community friendship, ect.) and it would be helping the environment.

(Note: This is not a good thesis, but just a basic example, and has several flaws/counter arguments.)

Which sentence has an independent clause? A. While preparing for the speech, President Kennedy worried about his entrance. B. Al
arlik [135]
An independent clause is a clause or a part of a sentence that can also be another sentence on its own. It has its own subject and predicate.

Of all the sentences given, letter B has an independent clause. Why is that?

In letter B, the sentence "Alan wants to visit his friends before he returns to college." can be broken down into two sentences.

1. Alan wants to visit his friends.
2. He returns to college.

In this case, we have 2 independent clause in one sentence which is why letter B is the answer.
