Answer:

1. She is trying to convey the message that country has undergone turbulent times but that it must remain strong and united so that a better nation can be left for the children yet unborn.

2. She was successful in passing this message.

Explanation:

Amanda Gorman in her inaugural poem, "The Hill We Climb," highlighted the fact that the United States has seen troublesome years, and this is true considering the pandemic and political tension that marked the country the past year and years before. She, however, stressed that they must remain strong and united.

She expressed believe and hope in America and its citizens for they have remained unbroken through all their challenges. She encouraged the country to 'move on to what shall be,' so as to leave a lasting legacy for their children.

A country that is bruised but whole,

benevolent but bold,

fierce and free.

We will not be turned around

or interrupted by intimidation,

because we know our inaction and inertia

will be the inheritance of the next generation.

Our blunders become their burdens.

But one thing is certain,

If we merge mercy with might,

and might with right,

then love becomes our legacy,

and change our children's birthright.
