Given:

The diagram of a cone.

To find:

The lateral area, surface area and volume of the cone.

Solution:

From the given diagram, we get

Radius of the cone = 6

Slant height of the cone = 10

Suppose h be the height of the cone.

According to Pythagoras theorem:

hypotenuse^2=Perpendicular^2+Base^2

Using the Pythagoras theorem, we get

10^2=(6)^2+h^2

100=36+h^2

100-36=h^2

64=h^2

Taking square root on both sides, we get

\sqrt{64}=h

8=h

The lateral area of a cone is:

A_L=\pi rl

A_L=\pi (6)(8)

A_L=48\pi

The surface area of a cone is:

A_S=\pi rl+\pi r^2

A_S=\pi (6)(8)+\pi (6)^2

A_S=48\pi +36\pi

A_S=84\pi

Volume of cone is:

V=\dfrac{1}{3}\pi r^2h

V=\dfrac{1}{3}\pi (6)^2(8)

V=\dfrac{288}{3}\pi

V=96\pi

Hence, the lateral area of a cone is 48\pi sq. units, the surface area of a cone is 84\pi sq. units and the volume of the cone is 96\pi cubic units.

The cost of having a package delivered has a base fee of $9.70. Every pound over 5 lbs cost an additional $0.46 per pound. Write
FrozenT [24]
The linear model of this case takes the form:

y = a(x-b) + k

<span>The cost of having a package delivered has a base fee of $9.70
this is "k" >>>>>  k=9.7 (fixed amount of fee)

THEN

</span>
<span>Every pound over 5 lbs cost an additional $0.46 per pound

that means: 0.46(x-5)
in other words, if the package weighs foe example 9 pounds, then 9-5=4, it will cost 0.46*4 for these 4 extra pounds

Finally we have the linear form of this: C = 0.46 (W - 5) + 9.7

Please help me on math and explain how to get the answer.
Lynna [10]

Answer:

x = 128

Step-by-step explanation:

ill name the empty angle y for clarification

y + 38 + 90 = 180

y + 128 = 180

y = 52

180 - y = x

180 - 52 = x

x = 128

Can you help me with this problem please
Over [174]

Remark

I think you want us to do both 3 and 4

Three

QR is 4 points going left from the y axis + 2 points going right from the y axis.

QR = 6 units long.

RT is 4 units above the x axis and 3 units below the x axis

RT = 7 units long

TS = 3 units. For this one you just go from T to S. The graph really helps you. You just need to count.

Problem 4

You need to find the area of the combined figure. You could do it as a trapezoid, which might be the easiest way. I'll do that first.

Area = (b1 + b2)*h/2

Givens

B1 = QR = 6

B2 = UT + TS = 6 + 3 = 9

h = RT = 7

Area

Area = (6 + 9)*7/2

Area = 15 * 7 / 2

Area = 52.5

Comment

You could break this up into a rectangle + a triangle

Find the area of QRTU and add the Area of triangle RTS

<em>Area of the rectangle </em>= L * W

L = RT = 7

W = QR = 6

Area = 7 *6 = 42

<em>Area of the triangle</em> = 1/2 * B * H

B = TS = 3

H = RT =7

Area = 1/2 * 3 * 7

Area = 1/2 * 21

Area = 10.5

Total Area = 42 + 10.5 = 52.5 Both answers agree.
