In Taming of the Shrew- Shakespeare had described the characters in such a way that it felt like the ending was quite predictable with Bianca being with sweet man Lucentio with her kind nature whereas Katherine being troubled for her bad deeds by her husband Petruchio

But the end leaves us with a situation that Kate who was a pain to everyone lives happily with her husband Petruchio and they both are madly in love with each other. Whereas Lucentio who worked really hard to woo her sweet Bianca turns out to be stuck withe real Bianca who is the actual shrew.

Answer:

The speaker of the poem is a slave on the ship. I know this because of the use of the word "us" which implies that the speaker of the poem is on the ship as well. Another line from the poem that tells me this is when it says, "where we lay for weeks and months." This line uses the word "we" which leaves the same effect as the word "us". The speaker is using these words to show us that they along with other are trapped on the ship in horrible conditions.
