Answer: Cugoano has a much more authoritative tone than Sancho, who is respectful to Sterne.

In these excerpts we can compare the tone of Cugoano to that of Ignatius Sancho when they discuss the topic of slavery. Cugoano has a much more authoritative tone as he challenges the people. He tells the readers that something "ought" to be done, and that slavery "ought" to be abolished. On the other hand, Sancho's tone is more conciliatory. He appeals to the readers' benevolence and charitable spirit, instead of presenting abolition as a moral duty.

Cugoano has a much more authoritative tone than Sancho, who is respectful to Sterne.

Further explanation:

In this excerpt, we can understand the tone of the conversation between Cugoano and Sancho. Cugoano entreats all enlightened men to understand the degradation of humanity in the form of slavery, as it goes against the very precepts of Christianity, and violates the principles of being a good Christian. Cugaono believes that understanding the woes of slavery is a true Christian virtue, and a good Christian must be sympathetic to the cause of the abolition of slavery, and work towards the welfare of slaves, rescue them from the dregs of humanity. He challenges people that something concrete has to be done to relieve the slaves, some strong measures have to be initiated towards their welfare. However, Sancho takes on his message as an emotional appeal, as he does not thrust it upon the moral duty of people, but rather appeals to their conscience, benevolence and the general goodness of humankind to work for the cause of the abolition of slavery. Thus, both men have very different tones of appeal.

Slavery was considered to be an important economic component during the Industrial Revolution and subsequent colonization of the nineteenth century. Britain and many other European nations capitalized on these capitalistic trends that emerged during the nineteenth century. The governments of such nations did not take any measures to understand the problems faced by slaves, rather they aided in the discrimination of former slaves from native citizens. It was in this new era of enlightenment that the former slaves sought to build their own social identities by rejecting the discriminatory andunequal laws for slaves. Thoreau’s solution of observing civil disobedience gives the slaves a way to work towards their own emancipation.

The answer that is a collective noun is cattle.
A collective noun refers to numerous entities, and cattle can refer to many cows, for example. You cannot say cattles, which is another way to think of collective nouns - they don't have plural form.

Some viewed them as intruders competing for land and wealth in California while other viewed them as refugees escaping a natural disaster that they had no control over. The survivors just wanted to live in peace and make a living in california. The survivors were refugees because they just wanted to survive and if they had the intention to make money and be wealthy they would have done that before the Dust Bowl occured.
