Answer:

Fast fashion companies' codes of conduct are not sufficient and do not improve the working conditions in garment factories. ... Domestic and international law can be changed to improve this by setting global working conditions and wage standards.

Explanation:

Many clothing companies are choosing to manufacture overseas due to much lower production costs. Many lesser developed countries do not have strict labor laws like the United States, and have very low minimum wages, if there is one at all.

Fast fashion and sustainability are an oxymoron. The whole idea behind fast fashion is to churn out cheap new collections and stimulate consumption, and there’s nothing sustainable about that. It’s impossible to produce ethical, eco-friendly clothing at the quantity and rate that fast fashion demands while maintaining genuinely high and environmentally sustainable standards. Fairtrade is good alternative, a buisness that does this is "Faʻamolemole", you can support them by not supporting fast fashion.

a workplace or factory where only members of the union were allowed to work.

Explanation:

A "closed shop" is a workplace or factory where only members of the union were allowed to work. They were powerful members of the factories who had the authority to demand uniform wages and standards to the owners.

During the time of protests and strikes by workers over workers' rights and standard wages, the union came into center stage. They could make strong demands and great influence over supply of labor. They helped in making the voice of the workers louder and heard to the capitalist owners.
