Henry David Thoreau was a naturalist, philosopher and a poet of America. He is one of the influential people and a thinker of America in the 19th century. He followed the Transcendentalism. Thoreau believed that it is the duty and role of the citizens to speak against the government if the actions taken up by the government is in contrary to the moral or ethical beliefs.

Edmund Burke was a philosopher and statesman from Ireland. He was a well known figure in the public in Britain. Although Burke supported the rights of the colonist in resisting the metropolitan authority, but he opposed the attempt to achieve their independence. He believed in the existence of the natural rights of the people.
