If the temperature increases though, then the vegetation from the bottom will start moving upwards, occupying larger portion, the second layer will move upwards as well, and the grasses will come around the top part of the mountain, with the barren part disappearing from the scene.

A forest fire could kill the trees and also the cones they eat for food and thus destroy their habitat and also a source of food and the branches they use to travel from one tree to another in the upper stories of the forest.
